IPAM Lisbon Hosts a Seminar on Strategic Leadership, Competitiveness, and Value Creation

On September 30, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., IPAM Lisboa will host the seminar “Strategic Leadership, Competitiveness, and Value Creation: Challenges for Managers in a Changing Economy, ” featuring Professor Eduardo Catroga, Ph.D.
Held in the IPAM Lisbon Auditorium, the seminar aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the business world, providing students with a space to reflect on the challenges currently shaping management and leadership in organizations.
With a career spanning more than five decades in business management, academia, and civic engagement, Eduardo Catroga holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from ISEG, has completed the PMD program at Harvard Business School, and has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Lisbon. He was a professor at ISEG in the areas of Business Economics and Business Strategy and has held leadership positions in national and international companies across various sectors.
Throughout his career, he has also held various positions of public responsibility, including the post of Minister of Finance in the 12th Constitutional Government. He has shared his professional and civic experience through conferences, seminars, and media appearances, where he addresses the country’s main economic and strategic challenges.
During the seminar, students will be invited to reflect on the relationship between research, management, and value creation, exploring questions such as the relevance of research to businesses, decision-making in contexts of high uncertainty, and the skills that distinguish leaders in today’s economy.
The session will also seek to explore how knowledge generated in an academic setting can be applied to organizations and contribute to their competitiveness and value creation.
