IPAM study reveals reasons for abstention among young people in the Presidential elections

Abstention among young people in Portugal is increasingly less related to sociodemographic factors and more associated with attitudinal and psychological aspects.

Abstinence among young people in Portugal is increasingly less related to sociodemographic factors and more associated with attitudinal and psychological aspects, such as disinterest in politics, distrust in institutions, and a sense of distance from decision-makers. 

This is one of the main conclusions of the study "Electoral participation and abstention among young people in Portugal," conducted under the scientific coordination of the IPAM Porto professors, Catarina Domingos and Isabel Machado.
